Nulla Nulla (bondi)
$220.00
Nulla Nulla, also known as a bondi, is a traditional Aboriginal tool with many uses. It can be used for crushing ochre or bush tucker, digging into trees or the ground, and for hunting. It reflects the practical knowledge and skill of our old people.
This nulla nulla was carved from the bottom of a fallen black wattle tree, taken from the core of the timber, which gives it a lot of strength. Using the core honours the strength of the tree and respects the natural qualities of the wood.
The tool has been finished with natural linseed oil to give it life and protect the timber, bringing out the grain and character of the black wattle wood. Each piece carries the unique markings of the tree it came from.
This Aboriginal traditional tool is a meaningful piece to have in the home or cultural space, showing understanding of cultural ways, respect for materials and Connection to Country. It represents both cultural practice and the continuation of traditional knowledge through making.
