Number 7 Boomerang
$220.00
Number 7 Boomerang, also known as a fighting boomerang, reflects the depth of knowledge in traditional Aboriginal tool-making.
Most people don’t know that we had over 50 different types of boomerangs, all made in different sizes, shapes and woods. This is because our people did not waste anything. If the tree branch we were using was bent in a certain way, we would use that natural flow to create the flow of the tool.
Each tree is different, each branch is different, and that makes each tool different.
This boomerang was made from black wattle wood collected from a tree that came down in a storm. It has been oiled with linseed oil for strength and to bring out the natural grain of the wood. The finish highlights the unique character of the timber and protects the tool.
This Aboriginal boomerang is a beautiful piece to display in your home or cultural space, showing a strong connection to Country, respect for natural materials and traditional knowledge passed through generations.
