Red Gum Clapsticks – Handcrafted Aboriginal Clapsticks Collected from Country
$60.00
These red gum clapsticks were collected from Country from a big red gum tree that had fallen in the storms. Rather than letting it go to waste, I decided to use the timber to create handcrafted red gum clapsticks.
The clapsticks have a very deep, strong tone and a rich red colour. Each pair carries the natural grain and character of the red gum, making every set unique. The sound is grounded and resonant, reflecting the strength of the wood and the connection to Country from where it was collected.
These Aboriginal clapsticks have been finished with linseed oil to bring out the natural grain and add a layer of protection to the wood. This also enhances the depth of colour and helps preserve the timber for long-term use.
Created with respect for Country and materials, these clapsticks are suitable for cultural practice, performance, education and personal connection. They also make a meaningful piece for collectors seeking authentic Indigenous Australian cultural instruments grounded in story and place.
