Wattle Bloom

Price

$220.00

Wattle Bloom reflects the deep significance of the wattle tree to our people and our connection to Country.

Our wattle trees have always been important. We use the seeds for grinding to make bread, and the wood for tools. But the special connection we have with the wattle is that it symbolises the change of season. Once the wattle blooms with its beautiful yellow flowers, we know the mullet fish are running in packs, the whales are passing by, and many other changes are happening across land and sea.

This Aboriginal artwork reflects cultural knowledge passed through observation of Country — understanding the signs that nature gives us and how everything is connected. The wattle bloom is not just a flower, it is a message from Country about movement, food sources and seasonal change.

This painting was created while sitting on Country under a wattle tree for shade, thinking about everything this tree brings for our people, the land and the animals. Painted in acrylic on canvas, this Indigenous Australian artwork carries the energy of place, knowledge and respect for natural cycles.

Inspired by Bundjalung Country in Northern NSW, this contemporary Aboriginal painting brings the story of seasonal change and cultural connection into your space.
